Centinel Spine recently released its latest patient education video, focused on father, husband, spine surgeon, and prodisc® L recipient Dr. Glenn Buttermann.
Orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Glenn Buttermann, from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, has been using and consulting on total disc replacement (TDR) since the earliest days of his career—all while experiencing the same advancement of back and leg pain as his patients.
When he finally had enough of the pain limiting his life, Dr. Buttermann began seeing a colleague to determine the best course of action to manage his own discomfort. Drawing upon decades of his own experience, including involvement in a clinical trial for a lumbar TDR device*, Dr. Buttermann and his surgeon ultimately determined that prodisc L was the best solution for his spine-related pain.
"So there's a clinical reason for choosing a prodisc, as well as a user approach that I liked about it. The disc replacement maintains mobility so it should prevent adjacent segment degeneration from being aggravated... I'd say it's a pretty darn good device."
