Centinel Spine recently released its latest patient education video, focused on 42 year-old father, husband, and prodisc L recipient Lester Ayerdis.
Lester's spine-related pain began in 2001 in boot camp before his stint in the U.S. Navy. Over the next two decades, Lester would experience recurring periods of agony, visit multiple doctors, navigate a myriad of diagnostic tests, etc. to relieve his lumbar spine (back) pain, with little to no relief throughout.
When Lester learned about disc arthroplasty in 2021, however, he finally found the solution he had been searching for all along. After Lester's surgeon performed a two-level total disc replacement (TDR) with prodisc® L, he was finally able to obtain the life he wished he had all those years missing active time with his growing sons and wife. Even more incredibly, Lester became a marathon runner in his post-TDR life.
"Last year, I completed two marathons, I did a half-marathon, and I believe I ran a total of 600 miles—and I had no back problems... All the years of pain, literally went away overnight... It's been a long time coming and I'm enjoying life."

Watch Lester recall the seemingly impossible, dramatic, and heartfelt journey of how he went from walking in pain to running in marathons in this short video.
